Why parts are pre-treated
A coating can only hold as well as the surface under it. Pre-treatment cleans the metal and forms a thin conversion layer on it. That layer gives the powder or paint a better surface to bond to, and helps the finished coating last.
Two processes at our plant
- Clear chromate: a chromate conversion coating, commonly used on aluminium. We carry it out on our chromating line.
- Zinc phosphate: a zinc phosphate conversion coating, commonly used on steel. We carry it out on our zinc phosphate auto line.
Tell us your material and we will confirm which process suits your part.
What happens to the water
Pre-treatment uses process water. Our facility has its own on-site wastewater treatment plant, so that water is treated on site. See the treatment plant.
